Hey there! Had a similar situation with my 2018 BMW X3 last year. The oil pressure warnings started popping up suddenly, and my oil level readings went haywire too. Turned out it wasn't just the sensor, there was a wiring harness issue where the cables had worn down, causing intermittent connection problems with the oil monitoring system. The repair wasn't too complicated, but it was definitely something that needed immediate attention. Oil pressure warnings aren't something to ignore. The mechanic had to replace the wiring harness and the oil level sensor. They also did a full system diagnostic to ensure there weren't any other underlying issues. My advice? Get it checked soon. These symptoms are eerily similar to what I experienced, and while it wasn't catastrophic in my case, putting it off could lead to bigger problems. Better safe than sorry when it comes to oil system warnings. Good luck with the repair!

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know about the wiring harness being the culprit. I've actually just booked mine in to get checked next week. Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other quirks?

Hey again! Really glad I could help earlier! Just wanted to update you, since getting my X3 fixed, it's been running like a dream without any oil warnings whatsoever. The repair totally sorted out that annoying oil level sensor issue. Honestly, it was such a relief when they found it was just a faulty cable connection, way less scary than I initially thought! Speaking of costs, I paid 95€ for the fix, which was pretty reasonable considering how worried I was at first. Way better than potentially damaging the engine by ignoring those warnings, right? It's been over a year now, and I haven't had a single problem with the oil monitoring system. Everything's working exactly as it should. The dashboard's staying nice and clear of those pesky warning lights, and the oil level readings are spot on. Trust me, once you get yours sorted, you'll feel so much better. These BMWs are solid cars when everything's properly connected and working as it should. Let me know how your appointment goes next week!

Thanks so much for the follow-up! Just got back from the mechanic today, and you were right about getting it checked quickly. My issue turned out to be slightly different, had a faulty oil pressure sensor and some damaged wiring. The repair cost me more than yours, around 180€, but honestly, I'm just relieved it's fixed. The mechanic was great this time, really took the time to explain everything and even showed me the worn parts. No more warning lights on my dashboard now, and the car's running smoothly again. Such a weight off my mind! The oil level readings are back to normal too. Definitely learned my lesson about not putting off these kinds of warnings. Thanks again for all your help and advice. It really made me feel better knowing someone else had dealt with similar issues and got them sorted without any major problems.
