Thanks so much for sharing your experience! That's exactly what I needed to hear. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything been working smoothly since they fixed it? Just want to make sure I'm prepared for what I might be facing with my X4.

Hey again! Yes, absolutely, I can tell you exactly what it cost me. I paid 505 € for the repair, which included fixing the electric motor in the brake caliper. And I've got great news, since getting it fixed at the mechanic, everything's been working perfectly! The electronic parking brake engages smoothly now, all those warning lights are gone, and the hill assist is back to normal. It's like having a new car again. I know it wasn't cheap, but honestly, it was worth every penny for the peace of mind. I can park on hills without worrying now, and all the brake systems are working exactly as they should. Been about a year now since the repair, and I haven't had a single issue with it since. Trust me, once you get it sorted, you'll feel so much better about driving your X4. The repair might seem expensive, but it's definitely worth fixing properly rather than letting it get worse.

I just got back from the mechanic and wow, what a relief! The repair ended up costing me a bit more than yours, around 650 €, but like you said, totally worth it. They found the same issue with the electric motor in the brake caliper. Apparently, some debris had gotten in there and messed things up over time. The whole thing took two days because they had to order a specific part, but I'm so glad I got it done. It's amazing how much better the car feels now, no more warning lights lighting up my dash like a Christmas tree! The parking brake clicks in smoothly, and hill assist is working perfectly again. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me understand what I was dealing with and gave me confidence to get it fixed properly. I was worried about getting ripped off, but knowing what you paid helped me gauge if the quote was fair. Really appreciate your help with this!

I had the exact same issue with my 2017 BMW X3 30i last year. The electric motor in the brake caliper was failing, causing the parking brake malfunction and triggering those system warnings. My car showed similar symptoms, parking brake not engaging, hill assist failure, and warning lights on the dashboard. It turned out to be a serious problem that required replacing the electric motor assembly in the brake caliper. The technician found that moisture had damaged the motor's internal components. This wasn't just a simple fix, they had to remove the entire brake assembly to replace the faulty unit. The repair was essential as the parking brake is a crucial safety feature. I'd strongly recommend getting this checked at a certified BMW service center since they'll have the proper diagnostic tools and parts. The whole repair process took about a day and a half in my case. Running with this issue isn't safe, especially if you park on any kind of incline. Get it sorted soon to avoid potential brake system complications.
