Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful info about the ABS sensor and wiring harness. I'm actually dealing with something pretty similar right now in my X5. Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, just curious, has everything been working properly since they fixed it, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up?

Hey there! Just wanted to follow up, I got my X3 sorted and yes, everything's working perfectly now! The cruise control has been flawless since the repair. The entire fix was pretty reasonable actually, only 95 € to replace that faulty cable connection. The mechanic showed me how the old connector was really corroded and causing all those headaches. Haven't had a single issue since then, the speedometer's spot on and the cruise control works like a charm. I use it daily on my commute and it's such a relief to have it working properly again. The mechanic was right about it being a simple fix, just needed to know where to look. Honestly, it was worth every penny to get it sorted properly rather than letting it drag on. If you're having similar symptoms with your X5, it's probably worth getting it checked out. These BMW sensors can be finicky sometimes, but once they're fixed right, they usually stay fixed!

Just wanted to update everyone, I took my X5 to a new mechanic last week and got everything sorted! The issue was indeed similar to what you described. Turned out my wiring harness was shot and needed replacement. The mechanic was really thorough and showed me exactly what was wrong. The whole repair set me back about 120 €, which included the parts and labor. A bit more than what you paid, but still reasonable considering it's completely fixed now. The speedometer is working perfectly and my cruise control is back to normal, such a relief! Actually really glad I asked here first. Helped me know what to expect and not get overcharged. The new mechanic was great too, super transparent about everything and got it done in just a couple of hours. Thanks again for your help, definitely saved me from stressing too much about it!

Had the same problem with my 2018 BMW X3 last month. The cruise control and speedometer issues were caused by a faulty ABS wheel speed sensor connection. The wiring harness had some corrosion and wasn't making proper contact. At the garage, they found the cable connection between the speed sensor and the control module was loose and damaged. They had to replace the wiring harness and recalibrate the system. Not a major mechanical issue, but definitely needed professional attention since it affects important safety features. The repair took about 2 hours. Worth getting it checked soon, driving without accurate speed info and cruise control isn't great. Make sure they check both the sensor and the wiring, as sometimes just cleaning the connections isn't enough.
