BMW X6 ASC/ABS Failure With Acceleration Issues

Hey all! I've got some trouble with my 2022 BMW X6. The ASC and ABS systems aren't working, and I'm experiencing jerking during acceleration. The error memory shows faults, and I suspect it's related to the ASC service warning. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? What did your mechanic diagnose and how was it fixed? Looking for real experiences to help pinpoint the issue before taking it to the shop.

Hey! I have some experience working on BMWs. Had a similar issue with my 2020 BMW X5 last year, and my owns an X3. I initially panicked when both ASC and ABS lights came on, plus that annoying jerking during acceleration. Took it to my trusted workshop, and turns out it was just a faulty ASC relay. The fix was pretty straightforward, they replaced the relay and cleared the error codes. Cost me about 90 Euro total, including labor. Before throwing parts at it though, what's your current mileage? Also, did these symptoms appear suddenly or gradually? This would help me give you more specific advice since these systems can act up for various reasons in different X6 models. The symptoms you're describing are exactly what I experienced, but it's always good to get a proper diagnosis since BMWs can be tricky sometimes.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I just hit 57406 KM and had my last service about 3 months ago. The symptoms started quite suddenly, literally just yesterday morning. It's good to hear your issue was resolved with just a relay replacement. That's definitely more reassuring than what I was imagining! You mentioned the cost was reasonable too, which is a relief. I'll probably get it checked out this week just to be safe, but knowing this helps me feel more confident about what to expect. Did your workshop mention any preventive measures to avoid this issue in the future?

Hey again! Thanks for the follow-up. With that mileage and the sudden onset, it definitely sounds similar to what I experienced. Actually, my workshop did mention something interesting, they said these relay issues can sometimes be triggered by voltage fluctuations in the electrical system. In my case, they recommended keeping an eye on the battery's health, as an aging battery can cause these kinds of electronic glitches in BMWs. Since my relay replacement last year, I haven't had any recurring issues. Just to be on the safe side, I've been getting my electrical system checked during regular service intervals. My mechanic said it's particularly important for these newer BMW models since they're so electronics-heavy. Also, a quick tip, before you take it in, try documenting exactly when the jerking occurs (like during initial acceleration, at certain speeds, etc.). This helped my mechanic diagnose the issue faster. Sounds like you're catching it early, which is great. Better to sort it now than wait for it to potentially get worse! Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out. I'm curious if it turns out to be the same issue as mine.

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! That's really helpful about the voltage fluctuations and battery health, definitely wasn't aware of that connection. I've been keeping notes about when the jerking happens, and it's mainly during initial acceleration, just like you mentioned. It's actually worst when I'm pulling away from a complete stop. I've scheduled an appointment for tomorrow morning with a workshop that specializes in BMWs. Your experience has made me feel much better about the whole situation. Initially, I was worried it might be something major with the transmission or engine, but now I'm hoping it's just that relay issue. I'll definitely keep track of the electrical system during future services too, makes total sense given how electronic-heavy these cars are. I'll update you once I get the diagnosis. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and tips!
