Thanks for sharing your experience! That definitely sounds like what I'm dealing with. Scary how similar the symptoms are, especially those unusual warning lights and starting issues. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole alternator and battery replacement? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the repair, or have you noticed any other electrical quirks pop up? Just want to know what I might be in for.

Hey again! Great news, I just wanted to follow up on your question. After getting it fixed, I'm happy to report everything's been running perfectly! The total cost ended up being 290 € for replacing the faulty battery, which was actually causing all those scary warnings. Those overvoltage alerts that had us worried? Completely gone now! Turns out I got lucky compared to my initial fears about the alternator, it was just the battery that was heavily discharged and needed replacement. Much cheaper than what I initially went through with my previous repair that I mentioned before. The car's starting up like a dream now, no more Christmas tree dashboard, and all those electrical gremlins have disappeared. Been about three months since the fix, and I haven't seen a single warning light since. Honestly, such a relief after all that stress! Just make sure you get it checked out soon, holding off on electrical issues can lead to bigger problems down the road. Hope this helps give you an idea of what you might be looking at cost-wise!

Thanks for the detailed follow-up! I actually just got mine fixed yesterday and wow, what a relief! Took it to a certified mechanic who diagnosed it right away. Funny enough, my issue was different from what we initially thought. Turned out to be a faulty wiring harness that was causing all those weird electrical problems. Cost me a bit more than your repair, around 450 €, but totally worth it to have my car running properly again. The best part? No more panic when I turn the key! Car starts perfectly, and my dashboard is finally back to normal. The mechanic even found and fixed a loose connection that could've caused problems later. Makes me feel much better about the whole situation. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it gave me the push I needed to get it sorted quickly instead of waiting around hoping it would fix itself. Thanks for all the help!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2019 BMW X4 last year. Started with unusual warning lights and struggled to start, especially after sitting for a few days. Turned out it wasn't just a simple dead battery, the voltage regulator in the alternator was failing, which was overcharging the battery and causing all those electrical gremlins. My symptoms matched yours perfectly, dashboard lit up like crazy, multiple system warnings, and that dreaded weak start. Initially thought it was just the battery, but the overvoltage alerts you mentioned are a big red flag for alternator issues. It was definitely a serious problem that needed immediate attention, leaving it unfixed could've fried the battery and potentially damaged other electrical components. Had to get both the alternator and battery replaced since the old battery was already damaged from the irregular charging. If you're seeing these symptoms, I wouldn't wait too long to get it checked out. The alternator-battery combo issue isn't something you can patch up temporarily, it needs proper diagnosis and repair.
