Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know it might just be a wiring issue rather than the sensor itself. I'll definitely get the connections checked first. Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been working smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other climate control quirks?

Hi again! Happy to give you an update! I actually just got back from the mechanic last week where they fixed my solar sensor problem. You're in luck, it was exactly what I mentioned before about the connections. They found a faulty cable and plug connection to the sensor that needed fixing. Only cost me 95 € and everything's working perfectly now. Since the repair, my climate control has been spot on, no more error messages or heating issues. It's such a relief to have proper temperature control again, especially since these BMWs are known for their comfort features. The auto climate is responding perfectly to temperature changes now. I'm really glad I didn't jump straight into replacing the entire sensor unit, which would have been way more expensive. Sometimes these luxury cars just need a bit of TLC with their electrical connections. If you're still having issues, definitely get those connections checked first, could save you some serious cash! Let me know how it goes when you get yours looked at!

Thanks so much! Just got back from the mechanic and wanted to update you. You were absolutely right about checking the connections first! Took my X6 to a certified mechanic who specializes in European cars. Turns out my issue was pretty similar, corroded wiring connections and a loose plug. The repair was surprisingly quick and way cheaper than I expected. They cleaned up the connections, replaced one damaged wire, and double-checked everything. The whole system's working like a charm now. Heat comes on instantly, no more error codes, and the auto climate control is doing its job perfectly. Best part? The total bill was less than half what I was expecting to pay for a new sensor. Really appreciate your advice, saved me from potentially spending way more than necessary. It's such a relief to have this sorted without breaking the bank!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2014 BMW X5 last winter. The climate control system was showing errors and heating was inconsistent. Initially thought it was the solar sensor too, but when I took it to the garage, it turned out to be a loose connection in the wiring harness that connects to the climate control module. The mechanic showed me how some of the pins in the main connector had corroded and weren't making proper contact. It wasn't a major repair, just needed cleaning, reseating the connections, and replacing one damaged plug. The system's been working perfectly since then. Based on the symptoms you're describing, it sounds very similar to what I experienced. While it's not a serious issue that affects driving safety, it definitely needs to be fixed to maintain proper climate control function. I'd suggest having a qualified BMW technician check the wiring connections first before replacing any sensors. Hope this helps!
