Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! Mine's a 2021 X7 with 11981 KM on the clock, just had its latest service done. The problem started gradually with both key fobs. Initially, I thought it was just a battery issue, but even after replacing them, the problem persists. Been getting error code U0429, which points to the antenna system. Really appreciate your input about the door antenna module, that gives me something specific to mention when I take it to the workshop. The physical key thing is such a pain, especially since these cars are meant to have seamless keyless entry. Hoping it's just a wiring issue like yours and nothing more serious!

Hey again! Thanks for the extra details about your X7. Yeah, that error code U0429 definitely rings a bell, my X5 was showing something similar when I had my issues. You know what's interesting? When you mentioned it started gradually with both fobs, that's exactly how mine played out too. I also went down the battery replacement route first, seemed like the logical thing to do, right? But nope, didn't solve it. Since you've got such low mileage and it's a fairly new car, I'm even more convinced it's probably a wiring/connection issue like I had. These modern BMWs have so many electronic components talking to each other, sometimes the connections just get funky. The fact that you're getting the same symptoms I had (both fobs affected, gradual onset, having to use the physical key) makes me think we're dealing with the same gremlin here. Just make sure when you take it in, they do a thorough check of all the antenna connections, not just the bumper one. Sometimes these techs get fixated on one component and miss the actual issue. My guy initially thought it was the bumper antenna too, but it turned out to be that door module wiring. Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out, always curious to hear if these issues turn out similar to what I experienced.

Thanks a lot for all the detailed feedback! You're right about getting them to check all the antenna connections, I'll definitely push for that when I take it in. It's super helpful knowing someone else went through almost the identical situation. I've booked it in for next week, and I'll make sure they do a complete diagnostic of the whole system, not just the bumper antenna. Really hoping it's just a wiring issue like yours, fingers crossed! Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience, it's made me feel a lot better about the whole situation. I'll probably skip my morning coffee the day of the repair though, been having enough fun juggling my keys around without adding caffeine jitters to the mix!

Hey there! I have some experience with BMWs, though I'm not an expert mechanic. Actually, I faced a similar issue with my 2019 BMW X5. The keyless system started acting up just like yours, had to use the physical key and everything. After scanning, it turned out to be a faulty cable connection to the door antenna module. My local workshop fixed it by replacing some wiring and reconnecting everything properly. The whole thing cost me about 95 Euro, and it's been working perfectly since then. From what you're describing, it could be similar, but would be helpful to know: Are you getting any specific error messages? Does this happen with all key fobs or just one? Did the issue start suddenly or gradually? I also own an X3, and these BMWs can be tricky with their electronics. Definitely recommend getting it checked out by a qualified tech who knows their way around BMW systems.
