BMW X7 Lighting Glitches: Purple Xenons & Signal Issues

Need help: BMW X7 2021 lighting system problems, multiple errors Having issues with my X7's lighting system. Getting error messages in the dash, and the xenon lights are showing a purple tint. Turn signals acting up too. Wondering if anyone else faced similar problems and got them fixed? Interested in workshop experiences and repair solutions. Thanks in advance!

Hi there! I have some experience with BMW electrical issues. Actually, I went through something very similar with my 2019 BMW X5 last year. The symptoms were nearly identical, weird purple-ish xenon lights and turn signal glitches. After taking it to my trusted workshop, they found a loose connector in the headlight wiring harness that was causing all sorts of chaos with the lighting system. The fix wasn't too complex, but finding the exact issue took some diagnostic work. Total cost was around 95 Euro for the repair. Could you share more details about your X7? Like when exactly these issues started and if you notice any pattern (wet weather, after car wash, etc.)? Also, which specific error messages are you getting? This would help narrow down if we're dealing with the same root cause. By the way, if you haven't done so already, I'd recommend getting it checked soon, electrical issues tend to get worse if left unaddressed.

Thanks for sharing your experience! My X7's issues started about two weeks ago, right after my latest service actually. Haven't noticed any specific pattern with weather conditions. The error messages are "Check lighting system" and "Adaptive headlight malfunction." Just had my regular service done at 167059 KM, but seems like I'll need to bring it back for this specific issue. Hoping it's just a connector like in your case and nothing more serious with the control module. Appreciate the heads up about getting it checked quickly, will definitely schedule an appointment this week.

Hey again! Thanks for the follow-up info. Actually, it's interesting that your issues started right after the service, that's a red flag that immediately caught my attention. When I had my X5 problem, I initially thought it was just a connector issue like I mentioned before, but after hearing your symptoms starting post-service, I'm thinking they might have disturbed something during the maintenance. In my case, after the initial repair I mentioned, the problem came back a week later. Turned out the workshop had accidentally damaged a small sensor while doing some other work. The service history helped prove this, and they fixed it under warranty. Since you're getting those specific error messages right after service, I'd strongly suggest going back to the same place that did your recent maintenance. They should check what might have been disturbed during the service. In my experience, these issues don't typically pop up out of nowhere right after maintenance unless something was moved or reconnected incorrectly. Just make sure to document everything and mention the timing correlation with your recent service. The workshop might be more willing to cover the repair costs since there's a clear connection to their recent work. Let us know how it goes, I'm curious if it's similar to what happened with my X5!

Thanks so much for that detailed insight! You've actually made me feel a lot better about the situation. I hadn't even considered that the timing with my recent service could be significant, but now it makes perfect sense. I just called the workshop and mentioned how the problems started right after the service, and they've agreed to check it as a priority case. Really appreciate the tip about documenting everything, I've already taken some videos of the purple lights and the error messages on my dash. I'll definitely bring up the possibility of them covering the repair costs since it seems connected to their recent work. It's such a relief to hear your similar experience had a relatively straightforward solution. Will update once I get it sorted, but thanks again for taking the time to share your experience. It's helped me approach this with a much clearer perspective instead of just worrying about potentially massive repair bills!
