Thanks so much for sharing your experience! That's super helpful, seems like we had really similar symptoms. Mine's actually behaving exactly as you described. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? And has everything been running smoothly since, or did you have any other issues pop up? Just trying to get an idea of what I might be in for. Thanks again for taking the time to help out!

Hey again! Happy to give you an update! Since I had the voltage regulator fixed on my Z4, everything's been running like a dream. The total bill came to 240 € for the repair, which included the new voltage regulator, labor, and recalibration of the ABS module. That's all it took to sort out those annoying warning lights. While I was there, they also noticed my brakes were pretty worn (probably from all that sporty driving!), so I had those done too. Best decision ever, the brake pedal feels nice and firm now, no more of that spongy feeling we talked about. I've put quite a few kilometers on the clock since then, and there haven't been any electrical gremlins or warning lights showing up. The car feels much safer to drive now, especially in tricky conditions where you really want that ABS and ESP working properly. Just a heads up, make sure they do a proper diagnostic check first. It saved me from unnecessarily replacing more expensive parts. Money well spent in my case! Let me know how you get on with yours!

Thanks for all that detail! Just got back from the mechanic today and wanted to give you an update. You won't believe it, but it turned out almost exactly like your situation! The voltage regulator was shot, causing all those warning lights. Found this great mechanic after asking around, totally different experience from my last one. They did a thorough diagnostic check first, explained everything clearly, and even showed me the faulty part. Cost me a bit less than yours actually, around 200€, probably because mine was a simpler fix. Had to wait a couple hours while they did the work, but wow, what a difference! The brake pedal's back to normal, all those warning lights are gone, and the car feels so much more solid now. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. Thanks again for your help, saved me from stressing out too much about it. Time to enjoy driving my Z3 again!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2004 BMW Z4 last year. Multiple warning lights came on simultaneously, ABS, brake system, and ESP. The brake pedal was getting softer gradually. Initially thought it was just air in the brake lines. Took it to my mechanic, and diagnostic tests showed it was actually an undervoltage problem from a failing voltage regulator in the ABS module. These modules are sensitive to voltage fluctuations, and when they don't get proper power, they trigger multiple warning lights. The spongy brake feeling was because the ABS system wasn't functioning correctly. The repair involved replacing the voltage regulator and recalibrating the ABS module. It was a serious issue that needed immediate attention since it affected core safety systems. My brakes worked mechanically, but without ABS and ESP, the car wasn't safe to drive in challenging conditions. Quick tip: Ask for the diagnostic report and get a second opinion if you're unsure. The warning lights combination usually points to an electrical issue rather than just mechanical brake problems. Hope this helps.
