Hey! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. Really sounds spot-on with what I'm dealing with. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much the recoding work set you back? Also, have you had any other glitches pop up since they fixed it? Cheers!

Hey again! Happy to help! After seeing the BMW specialist I mentioned, they fixed everything for 360€. The fault codes were all cleared up, and the coding was properly reset to match my car's specs. Since then, it's been running perfectly smooth, no more error messages or glitches popping up on any of the displays. The diagnostic equipment they used really did the trick, and I'd say it was money well spent given how annoying those constant error messages were. Been about 8 months now, and my Z4's been working like a charm. Not a single problem since the fix. Honestly, if you're seeing similar symptoms to what I had, I'd say go for it and get it properly sorted. Just make sure whoever does the work has the right BMW diagnostic tools, that's really the key here. Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for all the details! Just wanted to update you on what happened. I took your advice and found a specialist who really knows BMWs. Turned out you were right, it was mostly a coding issue from the previous mechanic's work. The fix cost me about 400€, which wasn't too bad considering all the headaches those error messages were causing. The mechanic showed me how the previous work messed up the coding across different modules. They reconnected everything properly and cleared all the fault codes. It's been running great for the past couple of weeks. No more unusual error messages popping up on the displays, and everything's working as it should. Really glad I didn't waste more time with less qualified mechanics. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction! Nice to have the old Z3 back to its normal self. Take care!

Hey there! I actually faced something similar with my 2004 BMW Z4 last winter. The symptoms you're describing remind me exactly of what happened to my car, multiple error messages across different systems all at once. In my case, it turned out the previous work done on the car resulted in incorrect coding of several modules. The mechanic had reset some modules but didn't properly code them back to the vehicle's specifications. This caused a cascade of error messages and system malfunctions. I took it to a specialist who diagnosed the issue through proper diagnostic equipment. They had to recode multiple modules and clear all fault codes. It wasn't a mechanical problem, but rather a programming issue. The fix wasn't particularly complex, but it required specific BMW software and expertise. This isn't typically a serious issue in terms of mechanical damage, but it needs to be addressed by someone who really knows BMW's systems. Make sure whoever works on it has access to proper BMW diagnostic tools and coding capabilities. Best of luck getting it sorted.
