Bolt Unresponsive Paddle Shifters

I'm experiencing some concerning issues with my 2020 Chevrolet Bolt (electric) around 26575 km. The paddle shifters seem unresponsive at times, and the gearbox feels like it's slipping or shifting uncleanly. I've even heard some grinding noises during gear changes. Sometimes the paddle shifters respond slowly, and there were a few occasions where the gearbox went into emergency mode. I scanned for error codes, and there is indeed an error stored. Could it be the transmission control unit? I read that a defective control unit could be the cause.

Summary of the thread

The 2020 Chevrolet Bolt is experiencing issues with unresponsive paddle shifters, a slipping gearbox, and grinding noises during gear changes. These symptoms, along with an error code indicating a problem with the transmission control unit, suggest that the control unit may be defective. After diagnosis at a certified workshop, it was confirmed that the transmission control unit was indeed the cause, and replacing it resolved the issues.

I had similar gearbox issues with my 2018 Audi A3. The symptoms sound very familiar. Was the error code specific to the transmission control module? Is the fault permanent or intermittent?

The error code does seem to indicate a problem with the transmission control unit. As for your question about intermittence, fault reappears immediately after deletion. What was the root cause in your case eventually and what action did you take?

Given that the fault reappears immediately, and you suspect the control unit, it does seem likely to be the source of the problems. In my case, after diagnosis, the Audi workshop confirmed a faulty transmission control unit. I would advise taking your Bolt to a certified workshop.

Thank you for your input! I took your advice and brought the car to a certified Chevrolet Bolt workshop. Indeed, after diagnosis, they confirmed that the transmission control unit was defective which align with all the symptoms. Getting it replaced cost me around 1000€. Now everything works as expected.
