Boost pressure control defective? 1 Series BMW Diesel

Hi friends, recently my 2012 1 series BMW diesel was at the mechanic and the bill was frighteningly high. Now my car is showing some problems - black smoke from the exhaust when accelerating, the check engine light is on, there is a lack of engine power and the car jerks when accelerating. There is also a loud hissing noise on acceleration, the fuel consumption is poor, the exhaust smell is strong and there is a whistling noise. I suspect that the problem is related to the deviation in the boost pressure control. Have any of you had similar experiences and could help out how it went at the garage? My BMW has already done 135343 km and I hope it's nothing too serious. Thanks in advance and I look forward to your feedback. Regards

Hello, thank you all for the helpful advice! I am really relieved that my problem is apparently not an isolated case and can even be solved. 1500 euros is not a lot, but if the car runs smoothly again afterwards .... then it's an investment I'm happy to make. I've now made an appointment with my mechanic and told him about the boost pressure control. I'm looking forward to his diagnosis. Thanks for this important tip! Best regards and see you then!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2015 BMW 3 series diesel. Black smoke, jerking when accelerating, increased fuel consumption.... it sounds a lot like the symptoms I had. Your guess could be right, mine was caused by a broken turbocharger. It had to be replaced, which fixed the boost pressure issues and related symptoms. Don't worry, it sounds more serious than it is. The replacement was relatively easy and quick to do, so nothing that should cause you too much distress. I hope this helps you. Best regards

Hi, thanks for your quick reply and advice. I'm glad to hear that the problem has been solved for you and it's reassuring to know that it may not be serious. I will definitely point out the turbocharger to the garage. Can you remember approximately what you paid for the repair at the time? And have you had any other problems with your BMW since replacing the turbocharger? Many thanks in advance! Best regards

Hey, I'm glad you're taking the plunge. As for the costs, you'll have to be prepared. For me it was almost 1600 euros. They repaired my boost pressure regulator and it's been running like a dream ever since. It was a tough job, but it was really worth it. Incidentally, I haven't heard anything more about the deviation in the boost pressure control since then. Best regards

Hey guys, often such symptoms are actually related to the boost pressure control. This is not unusual for your BMW with a lot of kilometers. Turbochargers and their components are wearing parts and it is precisely at higher mileages that these problems occur. Do not underestimate the influence of mileage on the condition of the turbocharger! Especially if the engine is perhaps not warmed up properly. You can expect to pay around 1500 euros for a replacement, depending on whether you use original parts or used parts. As already mentioned, however, this is an investment that is well worth it.

I do not have a BMW Diesel and have never owed one. I bought this device from you about a year ago for my BMW Z4 E85 but it gave me just a lot of trouble so I stop useing it. My car has been without any trouble since then, until......... so I tried again some days ago. Result My central lock stoped working, my rear luggage room would not open, my roof would not return to lock, all interiour light did not work. So I dissconected the device and went to my Battery, dissconected it. Started the car after a while. And sorry to say but now is everthing okay. I do not think I will try this any more. But thank you very much for your interest and service.
