Bouncy eK? Worn Suspension Could Be The Culprit
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a 2011 Mitsubishi eK experiencing excessive bouncing and uneven ride height, suspected to be caused by a faulty height sensor. A similar issue was resolved in a 2013 Mitsubishi Mirage by addressing a corroded and loose sensor cable connection, which required replacing the wiring harness and recalibrating the sensor. The recommended solution is to have the sensor wiring inspected and repaired by a knowledgeable mechanic, as this resolved the problem and restored normal ride height and stability.

Thanks so much for sharing that! Yeah, sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? And has everything been running smoothly since they fixed it, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up?

Hey again! After I got the height sensor fixed at AutoTech, my Mirage has been running like a dream! The repair completely sorted out the bouncing issues, and the ride height is back to normal. Cost me 155 Euro to fix the faulty cable connection on the sensor, honestly, it was worth every penny. Since the repair, everything's been great, no new issues or weird quirks. Mike really knows his stuff, and he explained that the limitation of the height sensor's functionality was the root cause of all those suspension problems I was having. Once they replaced that damaged wiring harness, it was like driving a different car! If you're experiencing the same symptoms I had, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out sooner rather than later. The longer you wait, the more strain it puts on other suspension components. Let me know if you need Mike's contact details, he's still my go-to guy for any Mitsubishi issues!

Thanks that's really helpful! Just came back from Mike's shop actually, you were spot on about him being great with Mitsubishis. Funny enough, my problem was almost identical to yours. Had the sensor wiring replaced and recalibrated, cost me about 170 Euro. The difference is like night and day! Car's not bouncing anymore, and the ride height is perfect now. Mike showed me the old wiring, it was properly corroded, no wonder it was acting up. Really glad I got your recommendation instead of wasting more time at that first shop. Feels good to have this sorted finally. Guess I'll see you around, and thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2013 Mitsubishi Mirage last summer. The bouncing problem and uneven ride height turned out to be a faulty height sensor cable connection. The wire harness was corroded and wasn't sending proper signals. Took it to my regular shop after another garage couldn't figure it out. My mechanic found the sensor cable connection was loose and damaged near the rear suspension. They had to replace the wiring harness and recalibrate the sensor. It wasn't a super serious repair, but definitely needed fixing to prevent further suspension issues. The symptoms you're describing sound really similar to what I experienced. Mike at AutoTech (if you're in the area) really knows his stuff with Mitsubishi suspension systems. He's worked on quite a few eKs with similar problems. Hope this helps!
