Boxer automatic transmission problem

My 2004 Peugeot Boxer diesel (76867 km) has a weird issue. It won't start in park, check engine light is on sometimes, gearbox slips, shifts badly, and there's an error code. Could it be the control unit? I've checked the gear shifter, shift lock, park brake, and gear linkage.

Sounds like a pain. I had something similar with my old Vauxhall Corsa. Check engine light and all. It was a faulty sensor messing with the auto box. Is it throwing any specific codes when you read the error memory?

Thanks for the quick reply. When you say 'specific codes,' what do you mean and how do they relate to the automatic transmission?

Nah, can't remember the exact code now. It was years ago. Just saying, similar symptoms on my Corsa ended up being a sensor. If you've got codes showing, a decent workshop should be able to pinpoint it. Defective control unit is a possibility though, those are never cheap.

Thanks. Sounds like a workshop visit is the best bet. I'll mention the sensor thing. I'll post what happens. Expecting a repair cost of 1000€
