Boxer Hands Free Microphone Failure

My 2005 Peugeot Boxer with a gasoline engine has a weird issue: the hands-free microphone doesn't work anymore. Telephony is impossible, and the error memory has a stored error. I suspect the infotainment system is defective, but wanted to get a second opinion before dropping serious cash.

Could be a software glitch. Have you tried resetting the infotainment system? Maybe disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to force a hard reset?

Yeah, I tried that already. No luck. Is it possible that just the microphone itself is faulty? Could I replace that separately from the whole system?

Possible, but unlikely given the error code points to the infotainment system. Given the age and symptoms, I'd say your initial assessment is probably correct. Workshop time, I think.

Thanks. Took it to the shop. You were right; infotainment system was borked. Cost me 815€ to replace. Ouch!
