Boxer key fob battery warning

I've got a 2022 Peugeot Boxer (electric engine) with about 151k km on the clock. Recently, I've been getting a 'key battery low' warning on the dash. Keyless access no longer works, and when I plugged in my OBD scanner, it threw up an error. Unlocking or locking with the buttons doesn't always work properly either - sometimes I have to press them multiple times. I'm pretty sure it's just the battery in the key fob getting low, but wanted to see if anyone else had experienced similar before I go tearing into it.

I had a similar issue with my BMW 3 series last year. Same symptoms: keyless entry packed up, and the car kept throwing low battery warnings. Assumed it was the car battery at first, but the diagnostics pointed to the key fob. The battery in the key fob is indeed likely the culprit.

Thanks for the quick reply! Did you manage to replace the battery yourself, or did you have to take it to a shop? Any tips or tricks I should be aware of before I try and pry the fob open?

While a DIY approach is feasible, I ended up visiting a workshop for a battery replacement. It would be best to make sure you purchase a battery from a reputable supplier, to avoid issues in the future. The cost was minimal and it saved me the hassle of potentially damaging the key fob. It is also worth clearing the error memory to ensure the error doesn't persist.

OK, appreciate the advice. I'll swing by the parts shop, grab a new battery and then head to the local garage. Turns out the whole thing only cost 37€ including having the error code cleared. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
