Boxer knock sensor issue

Ignition timing hasn't been touched recently. The malfunction indicator just popped up out of nowhere. When you say 'similar issue', was it also the knock sensor, or something else triggering the same symptoms?

Yes, it was the knock sensor itself in my case. Turned out to be corrosion on the connector pins. If you've already checked the wiring, best to get it properly diagnosed at a workshop. Could save you a lot of headaches chasing phantom issues.

Thanks for the confirmation. Ended up being a corroded connection as suspected. Cleaned it up and all good now. Total cost was just the cleaner, around 95€ for the diagnosis. Appreciate the advice!

I had a similar issue with my Boxer, though it was the diesel version. Same symptoms: warning light, poor performance. Have you checked the ignition timing? It might be off, causing the sensor to throw a code. Any recent work done?
