Boxer temperature reading issues

I'm experiencing a strange issue with my 2021 Peugeot Boxer diesel. It has around 190664 km on the clock. The instrument cluster occasionally shows incorrect temperature readings, the check engine light illuminates intermittently, and the engine seems to take an age to warm up. I suspect the cooling grille might be restricted, impacting the thermal management of the engine. I've checked for any obvious obstructions but found nothing. I'm aware that some vehicles have a fuse for the cooling grille, but I'm unsure if the Boxer does. Any thoughts on what might be causing this or where to start digging further?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Peugeot Boxer diesel is experiencing incorrect temperature readings, an intermittent check engine light, and slow engine warm-up. The suspected cause is a restricted cooling grille, but no obstructions were found. A faulty temperature sensor is suggested as a potential cause for the erratic readings and engine light, while a fuse related to the cooling grille might explain the slow warm-up. Checking the temperature sensor and consulting a professional for further diagnostics are recommended solutions.

That sounds familiar! I've got a Peugeot Boxer too, though I won't say which year it is, and I had similar symptoms not long ago. The temperature gauge was all over the place, and the engine light kept popping on. Have you thought about the temperature sensor? It's like the speedometer for your engine's warmth, and if it's off, things get weird.

Interesting! Where is the temperature sensor located on the Boxer? And did replacing it solve all the issues, including the slow warm-up? I'm just trying to gather as much info as possible before I start tearing things apart or taking it to a garage.

On mine, it was near the thermostat housing. Replacing it did fix the temperature readings and the engine light. However, the slow warm-up persisted and I had to take it to the workshop. Turned out to be a fuse for the cooling grille, costing me around 52€. I'd suggest getting it checked out professionally. They'll have the right diagnostic tools to pinpoint the problem for sure.

Thanks for the insights! Sounds like checking the temperature sensor is a good first step, but I'll definitely keep the cooling grille fuse and a workshop visit in mind. Really appreciate the help!
