BR V Preheating Lamp Stays On
Summary of the thread
The 2020 Honda BR-V diesel had issues with the preheating lamp staying on and the check engine light being illuminated, accompanied by smoke during acceleration. The suspected cause was a defective preheating control unit, possibly due to a faulty cable or plug connection. After checking the connections, it was confirmed that the issue was indeed a defective cable or plug, which was replaced at a workshop, resolving the problem and restoring normal vehicle operation.

Thanks for the quick response. I haven't checked the voltage yet, but that's a good idea. Where exactly should I measure the voltage? Is there a specific pin or wire I should be targeting on the connector?

I can't say for sure which specific pin, but you should be able to find a wiring diagram online for your model. If you're not comfortable probing around with a multimeter, I would suggest taking it to a workshop. It could save you from accidentally shorting something out.

Thanks for the advice. It turns out the cable or plug connection of the component was defective, as I suspected. The workshop replaced it for around 95€. All warning lights are now off and the car runs smoothly again!

I had a similar issue with my old sedan. The preheating lamp staying on and the check engine light coming on usually points to an electrical fault. Have you checked the voltage at the preheating unit's connector? It might be a simple voltage drop.
