BR V rear window heating issue

Experiencing issues with my 2019 Honda BR-V gasoline engine. The rear window heating isn't working right. There's an error stored, and the windshield heating seems weak. Could a bad battery be the cause? Has anyone else had thermal window problems with their BR-V?

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Honda BR-V owner is experiencing issues with the rear window heating not functioning properly and weak windshield heating. A stored error suggests a potential problem, and a weak battery is suspected as a possible cause. Another BR-V owner shared a similar experience where a weak battery was the culprit, and replacing it resolved the issue. It is recommended to test the battery before considering more costly repairs.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey! I have a BR-V, and your problem sounds like what I had last winter. My rear window defroster wouldn't work, and the auto defrost was useless. Did you check the fuses for the rear window heating? Also, have you tested your battery's voltage? That's what my mechanic suggested when I complained about the window demister.

Thanks! I checked the fuses, and they look good. I haven't tested the battery voltage myself because I don't have the equipment. I was quoted around 290€ for the defroster repair. What was your experience? Was the battery the reason for your thermal window issue, and what was the repair process?

Okay, fuses are fine. In my case, the battery was the cause. The rear window heating uses a lot of power, and a weak battery couldn't handle it. The garage confirmed it with a diagnostic tool, and after replacing the battery, the rear window defroster worked again. Given the error code and the windshield heating issue, I'd suggest getting your battery tested before anything else. It's likely the problem, and it's cheaper than replacing the heating element. Visiting a workshop is the way to go.

Thanks so much for confirming my suspicions and sharing your experience! It seems a bad battery is likely the cause. I'll have the battery tested and replaced if needed. I feel better informed now, thanks!
