BR V Reduced Engine Power
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Honda BR-V is experiencing reduced engine power and an illuminated check engine light at 88,919 km. The issue may be linked to a defective throttle valve, with diagnostics indicating a fault in the accelerator pedal module. It is suggested to have the vehicle checked by a professional workshop to confirm the diagnosis and proceed with necessary repairs, as self-repair on such components is not advisable.

Thanks for the quick reply. Could you elaborate on the specific irregularities I should be looking for regarding the throttle sensor? Also, did you observe any changes in fuel efficiency with these symptoms?

Yes, I did observe a decrease in fuel efficiency. The car was simply consuming more fuel than usual. As for the throttle sensor, I recommend taking it to a trusted workshop. They should be able to properly diagnose the issue. In my case, I ended up having to replace the whole valve. It's best to avoid self-repairs on such a sensitive component.

I appreciate your insights. I consulted a reputable workshop, and they confirmed a defective throttle valve stemming from the accelerator pedal module. The repair cost about 265€.

I also drive a BR-V, and your situation sounds familiar. Have you noticed any unusual air flow patterns recently? I experienced a similar issue with reduced engine power and the check engine light. Have you checked the throttle sensor for any irregularities? It might be worth investigating, as a faulty sensor can cause a significant response delay.
