BR V running rich
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Honda BR-V with a gasoline engine is experiencing issues such as poor fuel economy, a check engine light, rough running, reduced power, and jerking during acceleration, indicating it might be running rich. The air filter was checked and found to be clean. Potential causes include faulty spark plugs, a bad coil pack, or an injector issue. After diagnostic testing at a shop, a defective injection valve was identified as the cause of the rich mixture.

The car has 124031 km on it. The plugs haven't been changed recently, but would that cause all the symptoms? Wouldn't a bad coil throw a specific code?

At that mileage, plugs are definitely worth a look. While a coil usually throws a code, a slightly off injector can cause a rich condition without a clear misfire code. Given all your symptoms, especially the fuel economy hit, an injector issue is plausible. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a shop with proper diagnostic tools.

Thanks. Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Turns out one of the injection valves was defective, causing the rich mixture. Cost me 515€ to get it sorted.

Running rich, eh? Have you checked your spark plugs lately? A bad coil pack could also cause incomplete combustion, leading to a rich mixture. How many miles are on the car?
