Brake Light Switch Issue

I'm having a perplexing issue with my 2021 Peugeot 2008 gasoline. 178168 kilometers. I suspect a faulty brake light switch. Symptoms include an error stored, intermittent brake light failure, and an error message on the infotainment. I think it might be user error affecting the switch or brake system. Anyone else?

I also drive a Peugeot 2008, though I’m unsure of the year. Your brake light issue sounds familiar. Was the error message persistent? Did you notice any correlation between the brake light and specific driving conditions, like prolonged braking or uneven roads? Does the brake pedal feel stiff or spongy?

The error message recurs even after clearing it. I haven’t seen a direct correlation with driving conditions, but it might be more frequent after sustained braking. The brake pedal feels normal. What issue did you have with your 2008?

My brake light error message was troublesome. I think it was a faulty brake light switch. Visit a workshop to have it checked. You'll probably need the switch replaced, impacting vehicle safety.

Thanks for sharing your insights. Your input reinforces my belief about the brake light switch. Interestingly, the issue seems resolved. The error message disappeared, and the brake lights work. The error memory is clear and the total repair cost was 0€. Maybe it was a transient anomaly or a minor calibration issue. I’ll watch for any recurrence. Thanks for your assistance.
