Brio NOx Sensor Failure

I'm having a perplexing issue with my 2021 Honda Brio with a gasoline engine. It has 141172 km. I suspect a NOx sensor failure. The check engine light is on, and diagnostics reveal an error. Plus, I've detected an exhaust leak. I think it's a defective cable or plug connection to the sensor. Has anyone else experienced this with their Brio?

Summary of the thread

The 2021 Honda Brio is experiencing a suspected NOx sensor failure, indicated by a check engine light and diagnostics error, alongside an exhaust leak. The issue might stem from a defective cable or plug connection to the sensor. A similar case suggested checking the air-fuel ratio and catalytic converter, but professional diagnosis confirmed a faulty connector as the cause. The recommended solution was to repair the defective sensor connection, which was successfully resolved at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Interesting. I had a similar issue with my Brio - though it was a while ago. The check engine light and stored error definitely sound familiar. Did you happen to check the air-fuel ratio, or inspect the catalytic converter at all? These can sometimes be related to the NOx sensor.

Could you elaborate on the specific symptoms you experienced beyond the check engine light and stored error? Did you observe any impact on the vehicle's performance, such as diminished fuel efficiency or atypical engine behavior? What diagnostic procedures did you employ to isolate the issue to the NOx sensor, and were there any ancillary error codes present?

Beyond the light and error code, I did notice a slight smell of exhaust fumes. I didn't perform any advanced diagnostics myself, to be honest. Based on what you've described, it does indeed sound like a NOx sensor issue. Considering the exhaust leak you've detected, I'd strongly advise seeking professional assistance to address the matter promptly. You don't want to risk further damage to the exhaust system or catalytic converter.

I appreciate your insights. Based on your recommendation, I brought the Brio to a reputable workshop. The diagnosis confirmed a defective NOx sensor due to a faulty connector. The repair, inclusive of parts and labor, amounted to approximately 95€.
