Brio Overheating Issue

My 2022 Honda Brio gasoline engine is overheating like crazy! The temperature gauge goes way up, especially in traffic. Coolant level is fine. I suspect the electric fan, as I don't hear it kicking in when the engine gets hot. Could a defective cable or plug connection cause this?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Honda Brio is experiencing overheating issues, particularly in traffic, despite the coolant level being adequate. The suspected cause is the electric fan not activating, potentially due to a defective cable or plug connection. It is suggested to check the fan motor for jams or corrosion in the connector. The problem was confirmed to be a defective cable/plug connection, which was resolved by a professional, preventing further engine damage.

I had a similar overheating problem with my Brio. Check the fan motor itself. Sometimes, it gets jammed or the connector corrodes. Is the fan spinning freely if you try to turn it by hand (when the engine is off, of course!)?

Thanks for the tip! I'll check the fan motor. When you say 'jammed,' do you mean physically blocked by something? Also, where exactly is the connector located? I'm not super familiar with car parts, so any guidance would be appreciated.

By 'jammed' I mean the motor itself might be seized, preventing the fan from spinning even if it's getting power. The connector is usually right near the fan motor housing. Given your description and limited experience, I'd strongly advise getting it checked by a professional. Continuing to drive with it overheating could cause serious engine damage. This could easily be a defective cable or plug connection.

You're right; better safe than sorry. I took it to a trusted workshop, and you nailed it! It was indeed a defective cable/plug connection to the fan. The repair cost me 95€. Thanks so much for the advice! It saved me a lot of unnecessary diagnostics.
