C Klasse Hybrid Knock Sensor Issue

My 2023 Mercedes C Klasse hybrid is acting up. The check engine light is on, and my fuel consumption is way higher than usual. Also, the engine isn't idling smoothly, feels kinda rough. I scanned it and it's showing a defective knock sensor. I'm thinking it might be a dodgy connection, cable or plug maybe. Has anyone else had this issue? What am I looking at in terms of cost to get it sorted?

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Mercedes C Klasse hybrid exhibited issues such as an illuminated check engine light, increased fuel consumption, and rough idling. The problem was traced to a defective knock sensor, potentially due to a faulty connection, cable, or plug. After further inspection and professional diagnosis, the issue was identified as a corroded connector on the knock sensor, which was resolved by replacing the connector and sensor, restoring the vehicle's performance.

I have experienced similar symptoms with my C Klasse. A defective knock sensor can trigger the malfunction indicator lamp, affect ignition timing, and cause engine knock. Have you inspected the sensor's wiring harness and connector for any signs of damage or corrosion?

I had a quick look at the connector, didn't see anything obvious like corrosion or damage, but I'll check again in more detail. When you had the issue with your C Klasse, did the diagnostic report a specific error code?

The diagnostic indicated a specific error code related to the knock sensor circuit. Given your description, it would be prudent to consult a qualified technician for a thorough diagnosis and repair. Continuing to operate the vehicle with a malfunctioning knock sensor may lead to further engine complications.

Thanks for the insight. I double-checked everything and still no luck. I took it to the shop, and you were right, it was a corroded connector on the knock sensor. They replaced the connector and sensor as well. The whole thing cost 95€. Runs perfectly now!
