C Klasse Sunroof Issue After Coding

My 2023 Mercedes C Klasse diesel sunroof operation has gone completely wrong after some coding work. The sunblind's jammed, the convertible top refuses to budge, and the sunblind's stuck. Has anyone else had this coding induced sunroof issue?

I understand your frustration. I, too, have experienced a similar predicament with the sunroof mechanism on my C Klasse following coding adjustments. The symptoms you describe strongly suggest a disruption in the sunroof calibration. The electronic control unit governing the sunroof operation may have been adversely affected by the coding process, leading to a loss of synchronization between the various components of the sunroof system. To ascertain the precise nature of the issue, it would be beneficial to gather additional information regarding the specific coding modifications that were implemented prior to the onset of the problem. Could you please elaborate on the types of coding adjustments that were performed, as well as the tools or software utilized in the process? Furthermore, were any error messages or diagnostic trouble codes registered by the vehicle's on-board diagnostic system following the coding procedure? This information will aid in pinpointing the root cause of the sunroof malfunction and devising an appropriate course of action.

The coding was for some ambient lighting tweaks and a bit of exhaust burble enhancement using standard OBD tools. No error codes popped up initially, but I ran a scan after the sunroof went wrong, and it spat out a generic 'sunroof not initialized' error. Any thoughts on that?

The 'sunroof not initialized' error code, in conjunction with the ambient lighting and exhaust burble coding, strongly suggests that the ECU responsible for sunroof operation has been affected. While the initial coding may not have directly targeted the sunroof system, it is plausible that the process inadvertently disrupted the module's parameters or software configuration, or the CAN bus communication to the module. Given the circumstances, I would advise against attempting further self-diagnosis or repairs, as this could potentially exacerbate the issue or lead to further complications within the sunroof mechanism. Instead, I recommend seeking the expertise of a qualified workshop. A technician should be able to perform a thorough diagnostic assessment of the sunroof system, recalibrate the sunroof module, and restore the system to its proper functionality. This will involve using specialized diagnostic equipment to communicate with the ECU, retrieve any stored error codes, and perform the necessary adjustments to synchronize the sunroof components. They can likely perform a SCN coding to the module to remedy this.

Took it to a workshop after your advice. Turns out the sunroof calibration was indeed fried. They reinitialized the sunroof module and cleared the error. 75€ and all working. Thanks a bunch for pointing me in the right direction!
