C Klasse Temperature Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Mercedes C Klasse hybrid is experiencing an outside temperature sensor malfunction, leading to issues with the A/C, spray nozzles, and mirror heating. The suspected causes include a faulty sensor, dodgy cable, or plug connection. Suggested solutions involve checking the sensor and wiring loom for damage, considering sensor calibration, and potentially replacing the sensor. Ultimately, the problem was resolved by addressing a corroded connector and replacing the sensor.

Calibration? I didn't even know that was an option. Where is the sensor located and is sensor calibration something I can do myself, or is it SDS territory? I'm trying to avoid a costly sensor replacement if I can. Also, did the sensor malfunction affect your mirror heating too?

Yeah, mirror heating was also affected. Location is usually behind the front bumper. You can try checking the sensor yourself, but calibration might require the Mercedes diagnostic system. Honestly, I ended up taking mine to a workshop because I didn't want to mess with the electronics. A sensor replacement might be unavoidable though.

Thanks for the heads up! Sounds like I'm heading for the shop then. Turns out it was a corroded connector, just as you suspected, and the sensor was shot too. 95€ later and the temperature monitoring is back online, A/C is blowing cold, and mirrors are toasty again!

Sounds familiar! I had similar weirdness on my C Klasse. A/C cutting out, yeah, that's annoying. Check the sensor itself and the wiring loom. Could be a chafed wire causing a short. Did you try a sensor calibration?
