C1 Camshaft Sensor Issue

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2006 Citroen C1 diesel. It's got 117939 km on the clock and has been starting poorly with reduced engine power. I scanned it and it's throwing an error related to the camshaft sensor. I've checked the sensor itself and it seems okay, but I suspect it might be a dodgy cable or plug connection. Has anyone else run into this?

Hey, I had similar problems with my Citroen C1. Rough idling and sometimes struggling to start. Have you checked the wiring harness leading to the sensor? That's often the culprit.

Thanks for the tip! By wiring harness, do you mean where it connects to the sensor, or further back towards the ECU?

Yeah, where it connects to the sensor, but also trace it back a bit. On mine, the insulation had cracked further down the line and it was causing intermittent contact. If that’s not the case, it could be the sensor itself, but it's worth getting a professional to check. I ended up having to go to the workshop, and the repair was around 95€.

Thanks for the advice! I'll take a closer look at the wiring harness. If that doesn't solve it, I'll probably take it to a mechanic to get it properly diagnosed. Seems like it is going to be a trip to the workshop. Thanks again!
