C1 Cruise Control Failure
Summary of the thread
The 2008 Citroen C1 diesel experienced a cruise control failure, displaying an error message and refusing to engage. Initial checks of fuses showed no issues, but a scan revealed error codes related to the problem. Suggestions included inspecting cable connections around the steering wheel and throttle body for loose or damaged wires. Ultimately, a broken wire in the steering wheel column was identified and repaired by a garage, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't specifically checked the cable connections around the steering wheel or the throttle body yet, just fuses and a general scan. Is there anything in particular I should be looking for – loose connections, frayed wires, or anything else?

Yeah, exactly that. Loose or corroded plugs are common. It could also be a damaged wire. Honestly, in my case, I tried cleaning everything up myself, but it was a bit fiddly. Ended up taking it to a workshop who said it was a defective cable or plug connection of the component. I'd recommend checking, but if you're not comfortable, a quick visit to a mechanic might save you some headaches.

Thanks so much for the advice! I took it to a local garage and they found a broken wire in the steering wheel column, like you suggested. They charged me 95€ to fix it. Cruise control is working again now. Really appreciate the help!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my C1! It was a real pain. If I remember correctly, the same symptoms. Did you check the cable connections around the steering wheel and also the throttle body? That area is pretty sensitive.
