C1 fuel rail pressure sensor issue

My 2006 Citroen C1 diesel is acting up. The check engine light is on, it stalls when idling, and it's lost power! The error code says it's the fuel rail pressure sensor signal. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had something similar with my C1. Symptoms sound identical! Did you check the wiring to the fuel pressure sensor itself? Sometimes the connectors get corroded, or a wire gets chafed. If the wiring looks okay, the sensor is likely faulty and needs replacing.

Thanks for the quick reply! I gave the wiring a quick look-over, and it seemed okay, but I will check more carefully. Where exactly is the fuel rail pressure sensor located on the C1? Is it easy enough to get to for a proper inspection?

Yes, the sensor is accessible. It's on the fuel rail itself, but access is tight. Given the symptoms and the error code you got, I strongly suspect it's the sensor, but get a proper diagnosis before replacing parts. Take it to a trusted workshop and have the signal checked professionally. It can save you a lot of trouble and money.

I took your advice and went to the workshop. You were spot on! They confirmed the fuel rail pressure sensor was defective. A new sensor was fitted, the code was cleared, and it's running like a dream again! It cost me 240€ all in, parts and labor. Thanks a million for the pointer!
