C1 key fob battery warning

I've got a 2011 Citroen C1 with a gasoline engine, and I'm getting a 'key battery low' warning. Keyless access has stopped working, and there's an error stored in memory. Unlocking and locking are also becoming unreliable. I suspect the key fob battery, but has anyone else experienced this?

I had a similar issue with my C1 key fob a while back. Same symptoms – keyless entry packed up, and the central locking started acting up. Did you try the spare key to rule out other issues?

Good point about the spare key. I'll try that. If it's just the battery, is it a straightforward replacement, or is there anything I should be aware of, like needing to reprogram the key?

In my case, the spare key worked fine, confirming it was just the battery in the original key. Replacing the battery should be straightforward, but be careful when opening the fob. If that doesn't solve it, you'll probably need to take it to a workshop; there may be other things going on.

Thanks for the advice! I swapped the battery in the key fob and that seems to have solved the problem. Total cost was 37€ for the battery and a bit of peace of mind. Appreciate the help!
