C1 Knock Sensor Faulty Connection
Summary of the thread
The 2017 Citroen C1 experienced issues such as a check engine light, poor fuel economy, and rough idling, with a VCDS scan indicating a knock sensor problem. The initial suspicion was a faulty connection due to recent handling. After consulting with a technician, it was confirmed that a corroded connector was the issue, which was resolved by cleaning and replacing the plug, restoring the car's performance without needing a new sensor.

Cheers for the quick answer! Was it the sensor itself or just a bad wire connection throwing codes? Don't wanna buy a new sensor if it's just a loose plug.

Upon closer inspection, the cable or plug connection was indeed defective. However, given the potential for consequential engine impairment stemming from knock sensor malfunction, I advocate a consultation with a qualified automotive technician. An examination is advisable to authenticate that no insidious harm has transpired.

You were spot on! Took her to the shop; corroded connector on the knock sensor. Cleaned it up, new plug, and she's running sweet as a nut again. Cost me 95€, which is way better than a new sensor!

Greetings. I am familiar with this circumstance. I experienced analogous indications with my C1. The malfunction indicator lamp illuminated, concomitant with sub-optimal engine operation. A deficient knock sensor signal may indeed precipitate these derangements.
