Wiring harness, eh? Interesting. I hadn't considered that. Where exactly is this harness located? Is it easily accessible, or am I going to need to dismantle half the interior?

On the Saab, it ran along the headliner, near the sun visor mount. Access required removing the visor and gently prying down the headliner edge. However, given it's a different vehicle, the location could vary. If you're not comfortable probing around, I would advise seeking a professional's opinion. It sounds like a defect that needs attention.

Cheers for the tip! I had a look myself, and it looked fine. Bit the bullet and took it to a local garage. Turns out the motor was indeed toast, just like I feared. Ended up costing me 330€ to replace the whole sun blind unit. Ouch!

I had a similar problem with the sun blind on my old Saab 9-3. The symptoms sound identical: sticking, refusing to move, and triggering an error. Have you checked the wiring harness leading to the sun blind motor? In my case, a partially severed wire was causing intermittent power delivery.
