C1 Transmission Problem

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2005 Citroen C1 diesel. It only has 41601 km on the clock. The engine won't start, and the check engine light is on. I've also noticed the gearbox slipping occasionally and shifting very roughly. I hooked it up to a code reader, and it's showing an error in the error memory. I suspect it might be related to the automatic transmission's parking position. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Wow, that sounds eerily familiar. I own a C1 as well – and I’ve been through transmission issues myself! Were you having problems finding neutral before this all went down? It might sound strange but sometimes your car is like a rebellious teenager, and the control unit for the gearbox can be defective, leading to all sorts of weirdness, like your symptoms.

Interesting. Finding neutral wasn't particularly difficult, but now that you mention it, sometimes shifting from park felt a bit sticky. Could a defective control unit really cause all those problems – no start, check engine light, and rough shifting all at once?

Absolutely, it's like a domino effect! A faulty control unit messes with the signals the transmission sends to the engine and other systems. Think of it like a bad translator between different parts of the car. I ended up taking mine to a workshop, and they confirmed that it was indeed the control unit. Be prepared for a hefty bill though. My understanding is you would be looking at around 1000€ for the replacement and labour.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I'll take it to a workshop and have them check the control unit. I feared it might be something expensive. At least I have an idea of what to expect now.
