C2 Alarm Siren Communication Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Citroen C2 is experiencing a dead alarm with an error indicating a siren communication fault. The suspected cause is a faulty cable or plug, but tracing the issue is challenging. Suggestions include checking the siren's power supply and ground connections, as a weak or corroded ground can mimic communication failures. It may be advisable to have a garage inspect and potentially replace the siren module if internal corrosion is found.

That's interesting about the ground! I haven't specifically checked that at the siren, just the battery terminals. Do you reckon it's worth pulling the siren out and looking at the connections? Was it easy to get to on the V60? Was it worth fixing yourself?

On the V60, accessing the siren was straightforward, within the wheel arch area, but yours might be different. I'd advise visiting a workshop. Cleaning the connections didn't fix it. The siren module's internal components had degraded due to corrosion. I had the siren replaced, costing 130€ plus installation, but you're right to check the cable or plug connections.

Okay, thanks. Sounds like I'm better off letting a garage look. I was quoted 95€ for a wiring issue, so that's not bad. Cheers!

While my experience isn't the same, I had intermittent alarm failures on a 2012 Volvo V60. Diagnostics pointed to a communication fault with the siren module. Before checking the wiring, have you checked the siren's power supply and ground connections? A weak or corroded ground can mimic a communication failure.
