C2 charge air temperature sensor fault

I'm having a bother with my 2007 Citroen C2, gasoline engine. The check engine light's on, and the car feels like it's lost half its power. There's this weird whistling noise, almost a loud hissing when I accelerate. Plugged it into the reader and it spits out a charge air temperature sensor error. I've had a quick look at the air intake, and the sensor seems okay, but I suspect it might be the cable or plug. Anyone else had this?

Sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same thing happen on my C2 a while back - the hissing noise is a dead giveaway. Reduced power is awful, isn't it? Did the error code specify anything more than just the charge air temp sensor? Might be worth checking the wiring loom, especially where it connects to the sensor, as I've heard they can get a bit dodgy.

Cheers for the quick reply! Nah, just the generic charge air temp sensor error unfortunately. When you say 'dodgy', what exactly went wrong with yours? Was it just a loose connection, or something more sinister? I'm trying to avoid ripping everything apart if I don't have to!

Mine was a proper pain. It started as an intermittent fault, then progressed exactly as you're describing. I checked all the connections and everything looked fine, but after prodding about I still got the error. Frankly, after a bit of struggling, in the end i had to take it to a workshop. Cost me about 95€ to fix if it helps.

Thanks a bunch for the heads-up! I was hoping for a quick fix, but it sounds like I might be chasing ghosts. Looks like a trip to the shop is on the cards. Bugger. You have just spared me hours of needless checking! Anyway, seems the issue was with the sensor cable. Cost 95€ to fix.
