C2 Diesel Power Loss and Smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Citroen C2 diesel is experiencing significant power loss and increased smoke during acceleration. The suspected cause is the diesel particulate filter (DPF), which may be clogged or malfunctioning. A similar issue was resolved by inspecting and repairing the DPF, costing around 1550€. It is recommended to have the vehicle professionally inspected to confirm the diagnosis and address any related sensor faults.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't specifically checked the backpressure. Fuel efficiency does seem a bit worse. Which sensors should I be looking at?

Certainly. While it's difficult to pinpoint the exact sensor without a diagnostic scan, it is probable you'll need to take it to a workshop. In my case, the issue was indeed the diesel particulate filter. It ended up costing me around 1550€ to get it repaired. It will be better to have it checked by a professional. I hope this helps!

That's really helpful, thanks! I appreciate the insight. I'll take it to a workshop for a proper inspection and diagnosis. It sounds like the DPF is the most likely culprit. Many thanks again!

Good day. I also own a C2 diesel, and your symptoms sound very familiar to what I went through a few months back. Did you notice any change in fuel efficiency or perhaps higher backpressure? Have you had the vehicle inspected recently, especially regarding any sensor faults related to the diesel filter?
