C2 Oil Pressure Warning Light
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Citroen C2 with a diesel engine displayed an oil pressure warning light, despite the oil level appearing normal. The oil's dark color suggested possible contamination. The issue was likely due to overdue maintenance, as the oil and filter had not been changed in a while. The solution involved replacing the oil and filter, which resolved the warning light issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! The oil change was probably longer ago than it should have been, to be honest. Could that really cause the oil light to come on? I'm not sure if it's been intermittent, it's my girlfriend's car.

Yes, definitely. Exceeding the maintenance interval can lead to oil degradation and reduced lubrication, triggering the oil pressure warning. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get the oil and filter changed ASAP. Continuing to drive it could risk engine damage.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. They said the oil was badly contaminated, and the oil filter was clogged. New oil and filter, and the light's gone! Cost me 165€ Thanks again for the help!

Dark oil could indicate contamination. When was the last time you changed the oil and oil filter? Has the warning light just started appearing, or has it been intermittent? An overdue maintenance interval can cause this.
