C2 Overvoltage Errors
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Citroen C2 diesel was experiencing constant overvoltage errors, leading to multiple system failures and a weak battery during startup. The issue was suspected to be related to the alternator, as similar symptoms in another vehicle were caused by a faulty voltage regulator. After professional inspection, the problem was identified as a heavily discharged or defective battery, which was replaced, resolving the overvoltage errors.

Interesting! Fried ECU, too, huh? How did you figure out it was the alternator and not something else? Did you measure the voltage output? Where there other indications besides what you've described?

Yeah, it was a nightmare. A friend of mine, who's got more experience than me, suggested it might be the alternator after I described the problems. He measured the voltage while the car was running, and it was way above 14.5V, something like 16V, that's when we knew. Honestly, though, unless you're confident with electrics, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop.

Thanks for the tip! Took it to a shop as suggested. Turns out the battery was heavily discharged/defective, causing the overvoltage. New battery and a checkup of the alternator and its all fixed. Cost me 290€, but at least it's sorted!

Whoa, that sounds eerily familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. Same symptoms, electrical gremlins everywhere. Turned out to be a dodgy alternator. The voltage regulator was fried, causing it to pump out way too much juice. Fried my car ECU, too!
