C2 Oxygen Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a 2008 Citroen C2 experiencing a check engine light and increased fuel consumption, with an error indicating an oxygen sensor issue. The initial inspection revealed a worn cable and plug connection, which could be the cause. It was suggested to have the vehicle diagnosed at a workshop to confirm the sensor issue and check for exhaust leaks. The problem was resolved by replacing the oxygen sensor cable, eliminating the error.

Thanks for the quick response! The error message doesn't specify which O2 sensor. I haven't checked for exhaust leaks specifically. Is there an easy way to check that myself?

Okay, if the error doesn't specify, it's harder to pinpoint. Exhaust leaks can sometimes mimic O2 sensor issues. Honestly, given the age and your description of the cable/plug, it's likely the sensor itself or the connection. I'd recommend getting it properly diagnosed at a workshop. They can confirm the sensor and check for leaks properly.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were right – it was the O2 sensor cable. They replaced it, and the error is gone. The repair cost me 95€. Problem solved!

I had a similar issue with my C2 a while back: Check Engine Light and increased fuel consumption. Was the error message specific about which O2 sensor (pre-cat or post-cat)? Also, have you checked for any exhaust leaks?
