C2 rain light sensor malfunction

I am experiencing issues with the rain-light sensor in my 2004 Citroen C2 (gasoline engine). The error memory stores a fault, and the automatic wiping mode is inactive during rain. Furthermore, automatic headlight control and speedometer dimming are non-functional, yet the lights switch on. Could this be related to a malfunctioning sensor?

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane. Same symptoms: wipers going crazy, lights doing their own thing. Did you check for any visible damage or obstructions on the sensor itself?

Thanks for your input. Regarding the sensor, I've inspected it, and there don't appear to be any external obstructions. However, I suspect bubbles may have formed under the gel pad of the windshield. Did you observe anything similar in your case, before taking your car to the workshop?

Yes, now that you mention it, I do recall seeing some bubbling under the gel pad. It's probably what messed with the sensor. I ended up taking it to a workshop; they replaced the whole thing. So, it's probably a good idea to visit a mechanic and ask what he thinks.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It appears the bubbles under the gel pad were indeed the cause, as confirmed by the mechanic. I had it replaced for 62€. Thanks again for the insights.
