C3 Boost Pressure Fault

My 2010 Citroen C3, gasoline engine, is showing a boost pressure control fault. The check engine light is on, and I'm experiencing reduced engine power, poor engine response, and higher fuel consumption. Mileage is 127167 km. Could this be a pressure sensor issue?

Sounds frustrating! I had similar symptoms on my 2014 Opel Astra after about 100k km. Check Engine light, turbo lag, the whole shebang! For me, it turned out to be a dodgy vacuum switching valve related to the turbo. Is your C3 also showing signs of turbo lag?

Yes, there is significant turbo lag. Is the vacuum switching valve easily diagnosed? Did you notice any unusual noises?

I couldn't pinpoint the noise myself, to be honest. It was more of a general lack of oomph. The valve itself, I think it's tricky to diagnose without proper equipment. I'd suggest a garage visit. They can check the intake manifold pressure and bypass valve more accurately.

Thanks! Based on your experience, it sounds likely to be the vacuum switching valve. I had it checked at the shop; that was indeed the problem. Repair cost 140€. Problem solved!
