C30 Brake Light Failure
Summary of the thread
The 2007 Volvo C30 is experiencing random brake light failures, accompanied by an error message related to the brake light switch. The issue is inconsistent, occurring at various times without a clear pattern. A possible cause could be a faulty brake light switch, but after further investigation, the problem was resolved by repositioning a floor mat that was slightly pressing on the brake pedal.

It's pretty random, to be honest. Sometimes it happens right away, sometimes after an hour of driving. Weather doesn't seem to matter. Could it be a faulty sensor or something?

Given the inconsistency and the fact that it's logging a brake light switch fault, I would suggest having it checked by a qualified technician. A failing brake light switch can indeed cause intermittent issues. While it might be a simple sensor replacement, it's best to get a professional diagnosis to ensure proper vehicle safety.

Thanks for the advice! Turns out, after a closer look, a floor mat had slid forward and was ever-so-slightly pressing on the brake pedal. Problem solved, and it cost me nothing!

I've had similar issues with my C30, although I don't recall the exact error code. Does the error occur consistently, or does it seem to happen more often under specific circumstances, like after driving for a while or during cold weather?
