C30 Diesel Stalling After Fuel Filter Change
Summary of the thread
After changing the fuel filter on a 2010 Volvo C30 diesel, issues such as stalling at idle, reduced power, and a check engine light appeared. These problems were likely caused by improper priming of the fuel system, introducing air into it. The suggested solution was to properly prime the system and clear any error codes, which resolved the issue without needing to replace the fuel pressure regulator.

Priming... honestly, I'm not 100% sure I did it perfectly. I thought I did, but maybe not good enough. Where exactly is the fuel rail pressure sensor located on this engine? And what readings should I be looking for?

If you're unsure about the priming, that's a big clue. Messing with fuel pressures without the right tools can be risky. I'd say get it to a workshop. The error entry might just need to be cleared after a proper priming. It sounds like the regulator, but get it checked properly.

You were spot on! I took it to a mechanic, and they re-primed the system and cleared the error code. The fuel pressure regulator was fine. Apparently, I messed up the priming pretty badly. Cost me 45€ to get it sorted. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like you might have introduced air into the fuel system when you changed the filter. Did you prime the system properly afterward? A defective fuel pressure regulator could be the problem, especially with those symptoms. Have you checked the fuel rail pressure?
