C30 Engine Overheating
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2008 Volvo C30 experiencing engine overheating and delayed reaching of optimal operating temperature. The initial suspicion is a faulty thermostat cooling circuit motor. A similar issue was resolved by replacing a defective map thermostat, which is suggested as the most likely cause. It is recommended to seek professional diagnosis to confirm the problem and avoid unnecessary part replacements.

Thanks. Coolant level and cooling fan seem normal. I haven't looked at the water pump or temperature sensor readings yet. Was your issue also related to the map thermostat? How long did it take you to figure it out?

Yes, it turned out to be a defective map thermostat, which seems common. Based on your description, that's the most likely problem. Since you've checked the basics, it might be best to take it to a shop for a proper diagnosis to avoid replacing parts you don't need. Hope this helps!

Understood. I appreciate the insight. Getting it professionally checked seems smart. I'll post a resolution when I have one. I'm guessing it'll be around 350€.

Sounds familiar. I have a C30 and had similar symptoms not too long ago. Have you checked the cooling fan or coolant level? Also, any recent work done on the water pump or any unusual temperature sensor readings?
