C30 Engine Overheating

I'm writing about a potential issue with my 2008 Volvo C30 gasoline engine, about 59003 km on it. I've noticed engine overheating and it takes a long time to reach optimal operating temperature. Could this be a bad thermostat cooling circuit motor?

Sounds familiar. I have a C30 and had similar symptoms not too long ago. Have you checked the cooling fan or coolant level? Also, any recent work done on the water pump or any unusual temperature sensor readings?

Thanks. Coolant level and cooling fan seem normal. I haven't looked at the water pump or temperature sensor readings yet. Was your issue also related to the map thermostat? How long did it take you to figure it out?

Yes, it turned out to be a defective map thermostat, which seems common. Based on your description, that's the most likely problem. Since you've checked the basics, it might be best to take it to a shop for a proper diagnosis to avoid replacing parts you don't need. Hope this helps!

Understood. I appreciate the insight. Getting it professionally checked seems smart. I'll post a resolution when I have one. I'm guessing it'll be around 350€.
