C30 Fault Memory Lock Active Error
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Volvo C30 diesel is experiencing a 'Fault memory lock active' error. This issue may be caused by an undervoltage problem, potentially linked to the car's battery or power supply. It is suggested to check the battery under load and use an OBD-II scanner to read Volvo-specific ECU codes. If the problem persists, taking the car to a workshop for professional diagnosis and repair is recommended.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check the battery, seemed okay, but maybe not under load. How would I check the ECU for those specific voltage codes? Is that something I can do myself or do I need special equipment?

Checking under load is key. As for the ECU codes, you'll likely need an OBD-II scanner that can read Volvo-specific codes. Some basic scanners can only pull generic codes. If you don't have one, a workshop will definitely be able to pull the codes and confirm if it's undervoltage. Honestly, given the error, I'd just bite the bullet and take it in.

Okay, makes sense. I'll take it to the shop then. Thanks for confirming my suspicions, really appreciate the help! Turns out it was indeed undervoltage. Repair cost was 240€.

I had something similar happen with my C30. It sounds like a possible undervoltage issue. Have you checked your battery recently? These cars can get real fussy about voltage dips. It might be worth checking the ECU for any stored fault codes related to power supply.
