C30 Intermittent Starting Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Volvo C30 diesel is experiencing intermittent starting issues, occasional engine shutdowns while driving, and rough running. The initial suspicion was a faulty fuse. After a similar experience was shared, it was suggested to have the car professionally diagnosed. The diagnosis confirmed a defective fuse as the cause, which was then repaired.

The dashboard lights behave erratically when the engine won't start. Could that really be the starter motor? I thought that meant car electronics failure, not the starter motor.

That's exactly what happened to mine. The flickering lights were a symptom of a larger problem. I initially suspected a simple fix, but it turned out to be more complex. I'd advise taking it to a workshop for diagnosis. They'll be able to pinpoint the exact cause and provide an accurate solution.

Thanks for sharing your experience! It helped a lot. Following your advice, I had the car diagnosed. A defective fuse was indeed the culprit. Repair cost me 52€. Your analogy about the dashboard lights was surprisingly accurate!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my C30. Did you check your starter motor? When you turn the key, does the dashboard light up normally, or does it flicker like a faulty bulb?
