C30 Low Battery Error

I'm having trouble with my 2012 Volvo C30, gasoline engine, with about 232081 km on it. I'm getting a 'Low Battery' error on the speedometer. The lights seem weak and flicker. I scanned for codes and found errors related to low voltage. Starting the engine is a struggle, like the battery is really weak. Has anyone experienced something similar? I have a feeling the battery sensor might be faulty.

I had similar symptoms on my C30. Have you checked the battery terminals for corrosion? A bad connection can cause all sorts of weird electrical issues. Also, what's the battery voltage when the engine is off? A multimeter is your friend here.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check the terminals for corrosion. I haven't had the chance to test it with a multimeter yet. Is there a specific voltage range I should be looking for when the engine is off? Is the battery sensor easily accessible?

A fully charged battery should read around 12.6 volts when the engine is off. Anything significantly lower indicates a problem. Given your symptoms and the error codes, a defective battery sensor is highly plausible, especially if the battery itself tests okay. But proceed with caution. I'd suggest taking it to a reputable workshop for a proper diagnosis. Messing with the electrical system can be tricky.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I took it to the shop and they confirmed it was indeed the battery sensor. Repair ended up costing me around 315€, but at least the issue is resolved. Appreciate the help!
