C30 mass air flow sensor issue

I'm facing a strange issue with my 2012 Volvo C30 diesel, done 149594 km. Recently, I've noticed higher fuel consumption, the engine occasionally stalls at idle, the check engine light is on, and there's some smoke when I accelerate. After some research, it points towards a defective mass air flow (LMM) meter. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I think I had something similar happen with my C30. What kind of air filter are you using? I know it sounds dumb but I chucked a cheapy one in and then it started acting weird with the engine stalling and stuff, plus the fuel seemed to go quicker. Did you check that?

Interesting. I actually replaced the air filter recently, but I don't remember the brand. Could a bad air filter really cause all those symptoms, like the smoke and check engine light? And could that be related to the mass air flow?

Well, I'm no expert, but the symptoms sound very alike. I'm not sure about smoke, I didn't have that, and the engine light could be caused by the change in air mixture. I would suggest you go to a workshop so they can check that for you.

Appreciate the insight. It was a defective mass air flow sensor. Replaced it and everything's running smoothly again. Total cost was 365€.
