C30 mass air flow sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Volvo C30 diesel exhibited higher fuel consumption, occasional engine stalling at idle, a check engine light, and smoke during acceleration. These issues were suspected to be caused by a defective mass air flow sensor. After replacing the sensor, the vehicle's performance returned to normal, resolving the problems.

Interesting. I actually replaced the air filter recently, but I don't remember the brand. Could a bad air filter really cause all those symptoms, like the smoke and check engine light? And could that be related to the mass air flow?

Well, I'm no expert, but the symptoms sound very alike. I'm not sure about smoke, I didn't have that, and the engine light could be caused by the change in air mixture. I would suggest you go to a workshop so they can check that for you.

Appreciate the insight. It was a defective mass air flow sensor. Replaced it and everything's running smoothly again. Total cost was 365€.

I think I had something similar happen with my C30. What kind of air filter are you using? I know it sounds dumb but I chucked a cheapy one in and then it started acting weird with the engine stalling and stuff, plus the fuel seemed to go quicker. Did you check that?
